The famed General Lee owned by none other than Bo Duke (played by the Agoura Hills actor John Schneider, for you city slickers) sold on eBay Friday morning for $9,900,500, becoming one of the most expensive cars ever sold.
Schneider is selling the 1969 Dodge Charger so he can raise money to produce a next installment of his family-friendly movie "Collier & Co."
For that amount of money, the buyer, whose identity was not immediately revealed, could have bought every one of the top-10 most expensive cars on the Forbes list last year.
But how many cases of moonshine can you fit into the trunk of a Bugatti Veyron?
THE DUKES OF HAZZARD star JOHN SCHNEIDER will take his beloved `General Lee' car out for one last charity spin before handing the keys over to a collector who paid $9.9 million (GBP4.95 million) for the classic TV motor at auction. The actor has promised one young pal the chance to become the last person to ride along with him in the 1969 Dodge Charger that he drove in the hit TV series. A spokesman for Schneider says, "John receives `dream of a lifetime' requests from ill children all over America - but one really touched him recently. "As a result, John will be giving a ride to a child with cancer, whose wish is to hit the road in the General Lee." The charity ride was scheduled through the Reel Angels charity prior to John's decision to sell the car, and will take place later today (05May07) in Agoura Hills, California. The insider adds, "John gave rides to another sick child, who also appeared in his movie Collier + Co - Hot Pursuit, but what will make this one extra special is it's perhaps the last time John will get behind the steering wheel before he hands over the keys."
