I don't know why some people become teachers when they don't like children or don't have the patience for them. Why waste four years of your life studying to be a teacher? Also there student teachers go on practs to schools, that would be an excellent time to figure out whether you can tolerate children. I know because I'm studying to be a teacher.

I agree! Why would you study to be one if you hate kids? Doesn't make any sense to me. I had one teacher that actually told my mom he hated my class... go figure. Good luck with becoming a teacher! I wouldn't be able to handle it! What age level do you want to teach?

I don't mind which age level that I am assigned. The smaller children are very needy and that can be good if you want to be hands on and they are adorable too. Also they think you have all the answers because you're an adult. Older children can do things for themselves but sometimes they don't listen to you. The conversation with older children is more indepth and they understand more.

Good points for all of those. I guess I hadn't really ever thought of it that way. I wouldn't mind being a music teacher, but I'm absolutely horrible at explaining things.

Well you can learn how to explain things better through practice and study.

True, True. There are other things I'd rather do for a living more though. My problem is that about 99% of them don't pay well lol.

Well everyone says that teachers don't get paid enough. I think it the pay will be more than enough for me once I become a teacher because I only have to look after myself. Eventually it won't be enough if I get married and I have children and a husband to support. What other jobs do you want to have?

Teachers here get paid good, they just pretend they don't so they can complain to students. and I had one teacher who dislikes kids but she was awesome! {She taught High School though} but one teacher i had didn't even want to teach, and she made up different reasons for failing each kid! her reason for me was "I don't accept homework thats e-mailed to me. i don't care if Educator wont work for you, you either turn it in that way or fail!" yeah... I hated her. never taking a class with her again!
People say I'd maker a good teacher... but i cant don't do well with kids for hours at a time, and teens are in general too preppy and annoy me to death. I'm not much a people person.... however, I'm taking on a job that deals with people. go figure. lol at least its fun. I love Photography, so thats what I'm doing, people or not!

I would like to be a photographer, music historian (i don't even know if that is a real job, but I already know more about 60s and 70s music than my parents), musician, jewelry designer/maker, or writer. Instead of really doing any of those jobs though, i'm majoring in business. I guess i'm just trying to get enough money first so I can open my own business, then I'll probably do my best to be a photographer too. I'm guessing you're right about the pay, it seems like it would be adequate if you're single, otherwise probably not. So what do you want to teach? I seriously admire you for wanting to teach, I couldn't imagine doing it. Then again, I've had a ton of bad teachers and I know how the kids treated them and vise versa That's probably why I couldn't imagine doing it lol.

Thanks for the compliment. I want to teach English as a Second Language. So that means children who don't know English or Physical Education which is a lot of fun, or be a general teacher like elementary teacher and teach a bit of everything. If I were to do high school teaching, I would like teach history, social science, English or Drama. I think there kinda is such thing as a music historian. I suppose a position could come up in a museum or conservatory.

I think that teaching English as a second language would be very interesting. Where would you want to teach that? I just looked up the music historian. There is such a job. I believe I'm going to look up more stuff about it.

I would want to teach ESL(English as a second language) in any regular school around Australia. To be a bit more adventurous I could teach at an international school here or overseas. What courses would you have to do to be a music historian?

I think it would be extremely interesting to teach overseas doing that. I actually have a neighbor (well kind of a neighbor, he comes back for summer) that does that in Japan. He said he really likes it. I think it would be really interesting to teach that to people who moved to where you live and can't speak it.
Well, from what I'm seeing, there is no way i'm going to become a music historian. It's looking like it requires a PHD and there's no way I'm going through that much to get it lol. Plus the music I like to learn about is rather limited to about thirty years (1950-80).

Well you can teach English is Asia without being a qualified teacher. You just have to take a five week course. I suppose the downside would be that the course would be you have to pay up front for it. The good thing is that the overseas school will pay for board and some of the air fare.

Wow really? That's all it takes? My neighbor actually I think can speak 10 different languages, so it's a little different in his case I believe lol.
So what overseas country would you like to teach the most?
