I just finished reading the first three..... So good! Not as good as Harry Potter in my opinion, but still really good. I give them 8/10

I still haven't read this book. I tried to borrow it but I can never find it in the library. I guess I have to buy it. Anyway I have heard a lot of good things and a lot of bad things about it. People say the romance and the adventure of it all is really good, others say that it reads like fan fiction, Bella is the clumsiest girl in the world, self centred and mary sue and are tired of all the descriptions of Edward. Since I haven't read the book, I don't know what to feel about it so I'll make it my goal to read it when the semester break comes which is on a few weeks.

It kinda reads like a fanfic, but then at the same time it's a lot better than a fanfic. The romance is about 20 times better than you'd get with any fanfic. I suggest reading it still though lol

yes its been a wile since i last read one of the books but i don't remember too many descriptions of Edward besides things like "I looked into Edward's black eyes" or "Golden eyes" since they change a lot depending on how thirsty he is. and Bella isn't a mary sue and she is clumsy but not overly clumsy [shes less clumsy than i am] and as for self centered... she kinda is a bit but it never bothered me in fact i never noticed it till you said something about it.

OH MY GOD! I was so distraught when I finished the third book. I'm not gonna lie when I say the last couple chapters made me cry (ok, that sounds pitiful, maybe I should have lied). But anyway, I feel SO SO SO bad for Jacob. I like him and I think it's kind of unfair that he ends up with nothing.

eh Jacob will find a girl in the end.
But When it comes to Edward being fictional, he has a lot in common with my BF.... only he is just a tiny bit more the.... better. Edward seems too perfect. it annoys me at times.... like when Bella wants to make love and he's too much the gentleman to let that happen before they get hitched. and things like that. oh and how he wont let bella see Jacob, or the whole 2nd book....

Well I can understand why he left though. It's physically hard for him (and the rest of his family) to control himself when he's around her. It's dangerous. And because he can't imagine a world in which she doesn't exist, he reasons that it's better for her to be alive and not in his life than for her to be dead. However, I do think that it was also somewhat cowardly. He had to have known he couldn't stay away. He loves her too much. I was mad when he left.
Also, it's somewhat endearing that he wants to wait to be with her until they're married. For all he knows, he's already damned to he*l regardless, but to wait means something for him, and her. Although it is really frustrating how close he lets her get and then suddenly he pushes her away. I would be irritated.

So, I'm a little upset with Breaking Dawn. First of all, that whole "second book" crap with Jacob? What WAS that?! I'll tell you what it was...the longest freaking chapters of my life. He's so boring, and I know that I was like, a huge Jacob supporter in the beginning, but I can't handle it. After he imprinted on Nessie (hahaha) I was kind of repulsed. Although, I suppose I'm glad that he and Bella can be friends again.
Which brings me to my second point. I like pre-vamp bella WAAAY more than vampire Bella. I think that one of the things Stephenie had going for her with these books is that the heroine was so...normal. She was clumsy and she was somewhat shy which brought her down to the same level as those reading the books. She was just average. After she became a vampire, however, she was some super awesome, fast, beautiful girl who could kick the he*l out of a boulder. And not only that, but she handled becoming a vampire so well. It was frustrating because she didn't even struggle a little bit. That kind of ruined her character for me. And not only that, but when she was getting all that paperwork from J. Jenks, she was somewhat cocky, and she'd never acted like that before.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm all about character growth. For example, I like the Stephenie expanded a little on Rosalie. I don't like her at all, but it was nice to see that she wasn't some nice girl in disguise. She actually is really that wretched. And it was cool that they brought Charlie into the mix (sorta), and I suppose that Stephenie did a good job with bringing most of pre-vamp Bella into the story...I just found her really annoying when she was a vampire. Maybe it was because she was so obsessed with being a mother, and I can't really empathize with that.
So I struggled through probably 500 or so pages of the book. The first part with the wedding and the honeymoon were cool, and the last chapters were good too, they felt like they were written more like the first three books, which was nice.
But if I'm being completely honest, I feel like Stephenie could have done a better job.

Here-here!
I think she should try again starting right before Bella knows she's pregnate. Those dreams could have pushed the story in a whole other direction wich would have been better. and I think the story should have been more about Bella's changeing and then her adjusting to those changes and dealing with not being able to see Charlie and all her Human friends/family anymore. and the dreams could have added a twist like someoneds breaking those rules again and Bella got tangled in that mess or something.
Bella should have also keept some of her Clumsyness, just make her trip once or twice, and her power should have been being able to smell freash blood before the others or something...
I honestly felt like throwing the book across the room a "few" times. I struggled through it from when i knew Bella was Pregnate on.
I hope, that in the Midnight Sun series, that She only does the forst 3 books, i don't think i can handle going through that all again through his POV.
Oh and what the hell was with Jacobs COMPLEAT turn-around in only a few seconds? grrrr. that didnt make me like him more, that made me hate him more.... unrealistic. [talking bout when he wants to killl the vampires till he finds out Sam decides to kill them too.]

Yeah, the complete 180 in Jacob's attitude was off-putting. He was all for hating vampires and then, in about 2 paragraphs, he was completely okay being around them. No attitude whatsoever. I felt like a lot of Jacob's character was lost in this book, and that's probably why I didn't like him so much.

Also I just read what you posted in the QOTD thread about Breaking Dawn reading a lot like fanfic...and even though I've never really read any of that stuff, it seems like that's what it would sound like. I think Stephenie lost the story a little bit. Maybe. Anyway, yeah the pregnancy stuff is what threw the novel for me. Even for a work of fiction, it was hard to believe. I'm in total agreement that the book should have been more about her adjusting to life as a vampire, but she had no adjustments to make. I think the point was that being an immortal was right for her. That she was so perfect for that lifestyle that there was no adjustment needed, but it made it a boring story for readers.

Yeah, it skipped around a lot like fanfics do, plus it actually was a lot like the one twilight fanfic I've read... I'm seriously wondering if Stephenie hasn't been reading the fanfic and stealing a bit from them to use in the books. it's just... URGH! Annoying book!

I say give me a week or two and I'll have halfway accepted the book. I needed more of a warning on the whole Jacob = son-in-law and Edward=father-in-law thing. At least I got a bit of a warning lol. But grrrRRR!!!

Yeah... second time was betteer, i got to pick up on the bits of humor.
Oh another thing that annoyed me... The fact that Edward took Bella's change so well! What happened to his not wanting her turned? you'd think hed have at least a week of pouting or something!

I think maybe he was just really grateful that she didn't die? lol That's the only reason I can think of. I dunno, maybe she was so stunning after the change that he didn't care anymore.

Yeah... I agree with both of you lol. So I asked Khali why Edward hadn't noticed another heartbeat when she was pregnant, but he did. He asked her at one point if something was wrong with her heart... it might not've been too at the same time... either way it's annoying lol.

I think she got pregnant the first time she and Edward.... well, when the Pillows were reduced to a mess of feathers.
